Mr. Brightside

The Killers, Hot Fuss (Island, 2004).

''Somebody Told Me,'' three smashingly punchy minutes of garage pop so tightly wound that singer Brandon Flowers seems to be accusing his girl of cheating on him with another woman, is the song worth downloading. As for the rest, isn't it a little too early for a Strokes tribute band?

Teenage Kicks

The Undertones (Good Vibration, 1978).

I Am One

The Smashing Pumpkins, Gish (Virgin, 1991).

The Funeral

Band of Horses, Everything All The Time (Sub Pop, 2006).

Sobre este preciso momento:
Really too late to call, so we wait for
Morning to wake you; it's all we got

I Got My Night Off

The Legendary Tiger Man, Masquerade (Rastilho, 2007).

House of Jealous Lovers

The Rapture, Echoes (DFA, 2003).

Gosto da dança do gajo do badalo...

Soft Shock

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, It's Blitz! (Interscope, 2009).

Still it's a shock, shock to your soft side
Summer moon, can't you shut eye
In my room, in your room

Uma oral daqui a um bocadinho

The self-educated are marked by stubborn peculiarities. Often abounding with talent, but rarely with talent in its place, their native prodigality has to dread a plethora of genius and a delirium of wit; or else, hard but irregular students, rich in acquisition, they find how their huddled knowledge, like corn heaped in a granary, for want of ventilation and stirring, perishes in its own masses.

Fillip

Muse, Showbiz (Warner Bros., 1999).

Nunca percebi o cruzamento que lhes faziam com os Radiohead, nem gosto das suas mais recentes incursões larger than life, mas se houver justiça neste mundo, Showbiz e Origin of Simmetry vão ficar para a história.

An Honest Mistake

The Bravery, The Bravery (Island, 2005).

Don't look at me that way
It was an honest mistake

Allergic

Placebo, Without You I'm Nothing (1998, Virgin).

Hoje lembrei-me. Adiante.

A second and 34 years

"And it's problematic, because a lot of clients like to buy process and they think they are not getting their money's worth, like I solved it too fast. I mean, Michael Beirut told me to shut up in an initial meeting. I drew the Citibank logo, after we had the first meeting, on a napkin and walked out. You know, they had to merge "travelers" and "city", and travelers have an umbrella, and Citibank is a word, and the lower case thing of a "t" is an umbrella: you stick an arc on the top and you got it. It's a second. How can it be that you talk to somebody and it's done in a second? But it is done in a second. It is done in a second and 34 years, a second and every experience, and every movie and every thing of my life that's in my head."

Lights

Editors, The Back Room (Kitchenware, 2005).

It keeps me awake but I don't mind

Invistam nessas, compensa.
