Kevin Carter era um fotojornalista Sul-africano membro do "The Bang-Bang Club". Passou grande parte da sua vida profissional a cobrir o apartheid. Ganhou um Pulitzer em 1994 pela foto que está em cima, que nada tem a ver com o apartheid - foi tirada no Sudão. Cometeu suicídio poucos meses depois, quando um dos seus amigos mais próximos, também fotojornalista e membro do The Bang Bang Club, Ken Oosterbroek foi morto enquanto fotografava uma guerrilha em Tokoza.
